Bilal Farooq received Bachelor in Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology and Master in Computer Science from Lahore University of Management Sciences, both in Pakistan. He worked in software industry for several years before starting his Ph.D in Transportation Engineering at University of Toronto in 2006. From 2011-2013 he did his Post-Doctoral research at EPFL, Switzerland. From 2013-2017 he worked as an Assistant Professor at Polytechnique Montréal, where in 2014 he was awarded Québec Early Researcher Award. In 2018 he also received the Early Researcher Award from Ontario.
