Elahe Sherafat awarded WTS Toronto’s AI focused Scholarship

The WTS Toronto Area Chapter aims to further the development of the transportation industry through gender diversification within the local workforce. WTS offers scholarships to outstanding graduate student pursuing a degree that will lead to a career focused on transportation in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and the Kitchener/Waterloo/Guelph area each year. On November 10 2022, Elahe Sherafat was awarded WTS Toronto Area Chapter scholarship for her contributions in the applications of Artificial Intelligence in Transportation. Elahe joined Litrans at the Department of Civil Engineering, FEAS, TMU in January 2022 to pursue her Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Bilal Farooq. Her field of research is the development of advanced Deep Learning algorithms for Transportation applications. Elahe is working on Smart Campus project which is sponsored by NSERC-Alliance with Fuseforward. In this project, she is focusing on modelling the interactions between autonomous delivery robots and humans in constrained environments.
